My connection to my mother was severed
They unplugged my cord
And it hurt
For some reason it never healed quite right
I've always had a half in half out
Depending upon how full I was
When she died it hurt
In many ways, but especially
There it hurt a lot
My belly button hurt so bad I saw a doctor
He told me that hernia has been there since birth
I felt the distance life and death created
At my original source of connection
