Independence

 On this day of independence

I am the birds fleeing their nests

I am the cats huddled under the house

I am the dogs in the corner with their tails tucked

I am the possum, the skunk, the raccoon hiding from audiovisual war

On this day I pledge my allegiance to

the birds, the cats, the possum, skunk and raccoon and of course the trees, who will eventually give us fresh air to breathe again.

I declare my independence from the Human Race.

Turn Off

Dichotomous age of division, self-centeredness and disrespect, fear & anonymity, FOMO and unreliable people, blame and lack of accountability, people fearing love and truth and peace

Fine

 I'm mad at him/I'm afraid of that/I'm sad/I'm fine

Water Flow

 Unfurrowing my brow

I sit naked

Securely Climbing Higher

 Self-conscious

Who am I?
I'm just getting by.
Wasn't long since I gave
door knocking a try

Cut my teeth on fruit trees
Daily truck rental for these
Long days on climb and ground
Trying to not get ground down

Bright lights at night to figure
To climb safely trees which are much bigger
Got a big shot but no trigger
Until I throw with more vigor

Blakes hitch and leather saddle
These trees I would battle
Loppering piece by piece
Man that was a beast

Michoacan, Rope Wrench and eventually Runner
Oh man how that made my work a lot funner
Eventually even a groundsman, my Rasta man Paul,
And a chipper JoBeau so I take nothing at all

I know insecurity should be lined in chalk
But I am quite skilled at finding something to gawk
How far do you walk
Rarer diseases do you talk

It is more and it is less
It'll put you to the test
But one day told I was
Part of the best

Cone collecting crew in the world
My mouth edges curled
What they saw was unfurled
Into the crew I was burled

Then they asked me to teach
Even the ISA would beseech
I'm Holistically Long Beach
Then they told me I preach

I taught them to climb sans spurs
I taught them to converse
I coned the biggest trees in the universe
Now it's time to send insecurity out in a hearse

Escape from Squaretopia

Why do I have to be a sphere?

I always get kicked out of here

They say two to tango

But I can't with all rectangles

It feels like I make a problem

Asking question they can't solve them

Not found in back of book

Then her neck got a crook

Squares don't like being bent out of shape

Made her a trapezoid ape

I got in trouble using voice out of turn

Abstain from the Pledge as if flag I had burn

It really got old all that getting in trouble

So one day I put my voice into a bubble

I learned compliance and listen lame

With hand in the air that's a damn shame

Spin forward the clock another 20 years

Now I'm older, pressed clothes and rocking a beard

Not a creature was heard but the click of a mouse

keyboard, screens, cubicle rectangles prison or house

This is not what I want my life to be about

All I know at this moment is I want to get out

Twenty seven shades of grey I need my free

At the time I wondered what was wrong with me

Why can't I just accept things as they are?

Is a futile attempt at dimming a star

I am stardust from the universe you can't disentangle

I stepped out and realized nothing's made of rectangles

I am sphere, I am star, the Earth and the Moon

90 degree angles unnatural and smoothed out soon

Stepped into the light put my feet on the dirt

Out here we're all circles goodbye to the hurt.

Round peg in a square hole

 A bright young sphere

barely squeezes

through the

rectangular door

Into a

rectangular desk

Arranged in

linear rectangles

facing

A rectangular chalkboard

        a square teacher

                and a column of chalk

The chalk had potential

        in the right hands

Were it not

        simply

            projecting lines

                from a rectangular book.
