Independence

 On this day of independence

I am the birds fleeing their nests

I am the cats huddled under the house

I am the dogs in the corner with their tails tucked

I am the possum, the skunk, the raccoon hiding from audiovisual war

On this day I pledge my allegiance to

the birds, the cats, the possum, skunk and raccoon and of course the trees, who will eventually give us fresh air to breathe again.

I declare my independence from the Human Race.
